After nearly 24-hours on Amtrak’s Empire Builder, the scenery finally becomes marginally more dramatic when approaching Williston, North Dakota. Just as brown as anywhere else in early spring, but with the occasional texture of high desert lumps and bumps emerging from tufty plain.
