Odds To Win The Farmers Insurance Open 2017
Dustin Johnson actually is the favorite for this year’s edition of the Farmers Insurance Open. Johnson, who is in at 8/1, has two victories on the West Coast Swing: at Pebble Beach in 2009 and 2010. The Farmers Insurance Open is Johnson’s first full-field event of 2017.
Jason Day is in at 10/1. Day is currently number one in the world golf rankings, but finished 12th in his only PGA TOUR appearance thus far: the limited field Tournament of Champions.
In recent months, Hideki Matsuyama has been on fire. With two wins and two seconds in six PGA TOUR events in this wrap-around season, Matsuyama is currently second in FedEx Cup points. He is in at 12/1. He’s my fantasy pick for this week.
Brooks Koepka, Patrick Reed and Brandt Snedeker all are in at 25/1. They’re followed by Justin Rose at 28/1. Rose has played well in recent months, and took second at the Sony Open in Hawaii.
Behind Rose is the aforementioned Tiger Woods, along with Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker and Phil Mickelson. I don’t think you could go wrong with any of those guys.

Torrey Pines Video Tour
I visited San Diego in 2007 and played a round at Torrey Pines (as well as visiting Legoland and the famous San Diego Zoo with my lads). Here’s a photo montage / tour I put together.
It was a fun round, but I remember clearly being very frustrated by the grass. It was very spongy, and although balls sat up on top, the strange texture snagged my club and took a lot of distance from me. Very different stuff from what I’m used to here in the midwest.

New this spring is the Bridgestone TourB Driver, coming in three “ultra-premium” models with a matte finish, adjustable hosel and interchangable weights.
The TourB Driver comes in three models:
- XD-3 – 455cc head, round shape with deep face to promote a medium launch, neutral shot shape.
- XD-5 – 460cc head, flatter, shallow-face design to promote a high launching draws.
- XD-7 – 445cc head, classic pear shape that encourages low launching, fade-biased shot shape.
All three include what Bridgestone calls Flex Action Speed Technology (FAST), which increases ball speed for maximum distance, even on off-center hits. The TourB Drivers also feature “Power Ribs” in each driver’s base, promoting stability for increased ball speed and dampening vibration for excellent feel. The face of each of the TourB woods feature the company’s Power Milling, which stabilizes the ball at impact to increase quality compression and reduce surface slipping or skidding.
Interchangeable weights (2g, 4g, 6g, 8g, 10g, 12g) on the Bridgestone TourB Driver helps players select their preferred trajectory and shot shape.
