It was an extremely long five days in the fourteenth and final state. Crossing into Georgia immediately meant the finish line was near and the removed world I’d become so familiar with was going to end.
I was doing high-mileage days, feeling wild and invincible, and genuinely enjoying my time in the woods. I accepted my bitter mood on rainy days and appreciated the sun whenever it showed itself. ...
