Q&A With Harvey Lewis: The Most Recent Runner to Have a Go at the AT’s Fastest Known Time

On July 18, Harvey Lewis finished his FKT attempt on the Appalachian Trail. His 49 day, 15 hour hike is the 8th fastest all time. Harvey started his supported attempt on May 30th with a crew helmed by his 78 year old father. He averaged about 44 miles a day while dealing with injuries, tropical rainstorms, heat waves, and all the endless miles of rocks the AT could offer.
