A hiker was flown to the hospital after falling 100 feet from McAfee’s Knob in Roanoke County on Wednesday afternoon. According to Roanoke County Fire and Rescue, crews were called to McAfee’s Knob summit in the Masons Cove area just before 4:00 p.m. for a man in his 60’s.
The rescue team had to work together and carry him down the mountain before being joined by wilderness medicine doctors. The rescue took place for more than three hours and he was then flow to Roanoke Memorial hospital. ...
