It’s a clear night in August. The kind of summer night where it’s warm, but the mountain chill creeps down and into meadow we’re sitting in just outside of the camp at Summerland. It’s 2:00AM, but instead of being curled up inside our warm sleeping bags, Sarah and I found ourselves sitting in this meadow with our new trail friends—a trio of dudes from Oregon—gazing up at the dark sleeping silhouette of Mt. Rainier.
