Remembering The North

August
Jojo and I loved Maine.  The infamous black flies are gone by early August and we had no trouble with them whatsoever.  The 100 mile wilderness is speckled with lakes and allowed us to camp next to water every night.  We covered over 205 miles in 26 days for an average of almost 8 miles a day.  Not a huge daily total but the elevation changes made it a very respectable accomplishment for us.  Maine can best be described as the land of moose poop and rock stairs. ...
