The John Muir Trail is arguably the most beautiful and sought-out trail of the Lower 48. The conventional route is heading SOBO from the Northern Terminus in Yosemite, towards the Southern Terminus, summiting the 14,505′ Mt. Whitney and exiting at Whitney Portal. The biggest issue I’ve seen with people who want to do the entire trail is getting that permit.
