I Was Thirteen Years Old

The first time I ever set foot on a real trail was in sixth or seventh grade. Time has made the memory of details misty. It was a class trip or rather we all could choose one of a few trips that happened simultaneously. I was one of the kids who had the same computer at home as was in the school lab. The teacher was a wild-haired leather skinned hiker. He would be leading a hike through the New Jersey Pine Barrens. ...
