f there’s one universal truth of mountain forecasts, it’s that they’re not to be trusted. This is especially true for any predictions made more than 72 hours in the future. For this reason, we weren’t too concerned when Monday’s forecast called for a drastic drop in temperatures and snow throughout the High Sierra on Thursday. This is a story of wishful thinking gone awry.
