I reach Palmerton PA on the hot, humid day of June 29. On this day I hike with an older man named Ranger, who is section hiking the AT this week. He’s a good hiking companion- seems to hike at about my pace, and with a good sense of humor. We hike a few miles, then stop for a snack break at a shelter. As we’re relaxing, a thru hiker warns us of the coming perils ahead. ...
